Flea Repellent

Make herbal powders using combinations of the following herbs: rosemary, lavender, southernwood, lemon verbena, catnip, basil, lemon grass, citronella pelargonium, marigold and the passion-fruit plant.
Herbs love being trimmed, so cut them regularly, and dry them out of the sun, in your garage or pantry, layered on paper, or by hanging in bunches. When dry, strip the leaves off the stems. Crush finely. Rub through a sieve or reduce to powder in a coffee grinder. These herbal powders can be sprinkled around the dog’s living quarters, or rubbed into the dog’s coat.
Controlling fleas is an ongoing exercise. They breed continuously and treatment needs to be repeated every 8-10 days. If there are fleas in your carpets, try dusting borax on the carpet, brushing it in, leaving it for a half hour and then vacuuming it up.
